During October and November Wild Thyme will be playing host to a photography exhibition of Film Icons by the wonderfully talented Roy Jones.
This exhibition is a unique collection of some outstanding figures in post-war American and British culture taken by Roy Jones during his time as specialist arts photographer for The Evening Standard from 1965 to 1995. Roy Jones' work has been exhibited previously at The National Theatre, the Royal Opera House, the Lyric Theatre, Hammersmith, Birmingham Repertory Theatre and The Crucible Theatre, Sheffield.
In 1989 he published his first book, Artists in Camera, featuring portraits of stars from the world of film, theatre, opera, ballet and classical music. Roy was born in Islington over sixty years ago. After a short time with Central Press Photos Agency in Fleet Street, he joined The Evening Standard as a news photographer. A year later he teamed up with the Arts Correspondant Sydney Edwards in creating a new approach to arts coverage as well as beginning the newspaper's fashion section. His assignments have taken him from The US to China and Russia to Australia. He retired in 1995 and now lives near Chipping Norton.
Book your table now between 13th October and 14th November to enjoy great food and photography at Wild Thyme.
